Upgrading Nexenta
From Docunext Technology Wiki
I ran an Apt-clone command which finished with this:
Creating boot_archive for /tmp/upgrade-attempt.784
updating /tmp/upgrade-attempt.784/platform/i86pc/boot_archive
updating /tmp/upgrade-attempt.784/platform/i86pc/amd64/boot_archive

SYSTEM NOTICE
The first phase of upgrade has completed successfully:
- created Upgrade Checkpoint 'rootfs-nmu-001'
- created new GRUB menu entry
- the system is ready to reboot into the new checkpoint
+------------------------------------------------------------------+

At this point you have two options:

1. You can reboot now, make sure that system is healthy and
then activate the newly created checkpoint.

2. Or, you can simply continue using the system as is and
reboot/activate checkpoint later.

+------------------------------------------------------------------+
Would you like to follow the option (1) above and reboot now ? (y/n)
Activate upgrade command: 'apt-clone -a rootfs-nmu-001'
Rollback changes command: 'apt-clone -r rootfs-nmu-001'
I was surprised because I logged into the console and it said it was Nexenta base 2! I hope it still boots as a vm (I couldn't get the installer to boot).
I'm running a KVM virtual machine, so I'm going to shutdown, then start up again. KVM machines don't seem to reboot for me.
ARGH! Nexenta won't boot up on the new image. I just get the Nexenta welcome screen, and then it reboots:
Actually it does blip to a "Loading Nexenta" for a moment, but then it just reboots. I'm trying qemu now.
Sweet! I caught the error screen before it rebooted:
It says: "General Protection" and "Bad Trap". Now, question: is this a Nexenta bug or a KVM / QEMU bug?
UPDATE: Nexenta 2 works with VirtualBox.
