Lindows was the name of a commercialized Linux distribution. Microsoft sued them, alleging trademark infringement, only to discover that Windows is a very generic term. Fearing a precedent and the loss of their trademark, Microsoft settled out of court, paying Linodws to change their name to Linspire.
