As you may know, 3Ware was bought awhile back, and since then, I for one have not been happy with the change.
In perusing the goods at Newegg, I've noticed a new manufacturer, Areca. They've been getting super reviews by Newegg customers, especially when it comes to linux support. Could they be the new 3Ware?
At the LinuxMafia's page on linux sata raids, Areca is mentioned as having GPLed software maintained by Erech Chen of Areca. Cool!
Doing a little more digging, it looks like Ubuntu has the Areca drivers, but not debian? 2007-04-19:
I've had to use ubuntu server recently because debian doesn't support the areca raid card I have in a couple of servers.- StarMonkey
What about SAS?
