When choosing a password, pick a good one. You might think using your middle name, or the name of a pet, is a good idea, but in reality, its a terrible idea. When choosing a password, or more aptly - passphrase or passkey, use a random combination of numbers and letters.

So how can you remember this? Memorize it! I write mine down and put them someplace safe, but you’ll have to make your own mind about that.

Like most important decisions, think this process through. It will well be worth your time.

Organizational Password Protocols

For a multi-user group, like a business or organization, it is a good idea to have a password procedures manuals, or reference guide, so that the individuals in the group maintain a level of security. It also helps to have a commonly known default password, to make resetting the password more convenient. On top of that, you’ll have to force newly reset passwords to be reset upon first login. That will make sure that the default password can only be used to reset forgotten passwords. Another method for resetting passwords in through a second email address. This works well for most cases.
